1. A short description of my
Peace Corps experience. I was a Water Resources Management Agent and
focused most of efforts in improving the number of women and
children who would come to the local health center for vaccinations.
I also worked with a local NGO that would provide pumps to
communities who wanted to grow more crops and taught health classes
in the local schools. (Attached is a photo of my students)
2. Fun fact about host country:
The city of Timbuktu actually exists and I rode a camel there.
3. Fun fact about local
community: Although my primary language in Mali was Bambara, Mali
has over 100 local languages and my community was Senufo and an
Animist village.
4. Most unique part of my Peace Corps experience: During the rainy season, the one bridge that connected me to the other villages would often be flooded so I would be forced to stay in my village until the water receded.
5. What are you up to now? I am
now an immigration attorney. I practiced in New York for many years
and handle all types of cases ranging from deportation cases, to
family-based petitions and employed based petitions.
