Houston Peace Corps Association

Membership

In 1984, the Peace Corps recruiting office in Dallas called a very recently returned volunteer and offered her a list of phone numbers and addresses (this was long before email) if she would attempt to get people together to start a returned group in the Gulf Coast area.  In 1985, our group, Gulf Coast Council of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers was born.  We continue to support the 3rd goal of Peace Corps.

The Gulf Coast Council (GCC) has officially become the Houston Peace Corps Association. We are a members-only organization, although every newly returned Peace Corps Volunteer is automatically given free membership for one year after their COS (closure of service). Membership benefits are many:

You have a say in the running of the group.
You may serve on the Board or a Committee of your choice.
See Board Job Descriptions here.

You may vote on where to send Peace Corps Partnership money. Here is a slide show of one of our partnership projects.

You may vote on the continued support of KIVA and other support projects.
You may represent our group at Regional and National Events.
You can help decide what activities our group joins. Ex. iFest, Habitat, Project Blazing Star, Child Advocates, etc.

Your fees help cover our fixed costs:  website fees, bank fees, event incidentials-paper products, sodas, water, etc.

Local Membership:  Please complete the PDF form so we can get to know you better:  Membership form

Local Membership: Costs just $15 a year. This pays for one year's membership in the Houston Peace Corps Association.

NATIONAL is currently transitioning to a new website and data management system.  Joining via National is not possible as of 1-27-24.  We will update this page once we have more information.

National Membership in National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) is now automatic as the National Group dropped their membership fee recently. Just click join National-Free membership.  They are happy to still send local groups their membership.
